Noles Down Hurricanes, 87-70

The Florida State women's basketball team (8-16, 3-9 ACC)  defeated Miami (12-12, 4-9 ACC)  at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center on Sunday afternoon, 87-70.

Tatum Greene led the Florida State offense scoring a career-best 22 points along with seven rebounds, as Greene finished the game 9-of-12 from the floor.

Sole Williams followed with 14 points and led the team with five assists as the Noles dished a season-best 21. 

Florida State sank 10 three-pointers, led by Jasmine Shavers, who contributed three, marking the sixth game this season the Noles hit at least 10 from behind the arc. Shavers finished the game with 13 points.    

The Seminoles started the first quarter strong with a 6-0 run led by Greene. Greene and Allie Kubek put up four points each in the first quarter, while Pania Davis led the effort off the glass with three rebounds.  The opening frame remained close, but Kubek's bucket before the buzzer put FSU up 13-12. 
 
In the second quarter, the Seminoles outscored the Hurricanes by 10, putting up 29 points after scoring five threes in the first four minutes. Sydney Bowles and Greene had seven points each, followed by Shavers and Williams, who each contributed six points.  

Greene wrapped up the first half with nine points and four rebounds, while Williams contributed another eight points and four rebounds. After firing 18 points from downtown, the Seminoles headed into the locker room up by 11, 42-31 as FSU closed the half on a 6-0 stretch. 

FSU kept the momentum in the third quarter with a 7-0 run to start. Greene continued the effort, adding another five points in just 20 seconds. After contributing the full 10 minutes, Shavers led the Noles with seven points and two rebounds. FSU broke open the game, outscoring the Hurricanes 26-15, taking the 68-46 lead into the fourth. 

Florida State added another 19 points in the fourth quarter, shooting 50 percent in the paint. Greene paced the offense, putting up eight points while playing the entire 10 minutes. Despite a push from Miami, FSU sustained its lead in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

The Seminoles will host Boston College on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
