Noles Fall to Georgia Tech in ACC Tournament

DULUTH, Ga. - The Florida State women's basketball team (10-21, 5-13) fell to Georgia Tech (14-17, 8-10) 72-60, in the opening round of the 2026 Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament at the GAS South Arena on Wednesday.
 
FSU was led by Sydney Bowles, who scored 16 points, shooting 7-of-16. Three additional players contributed eight points each, including Sole Williams, Pania Davis and Mari Gerton.  
 
Gerton was 3-of-4 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, scoring eight of FSU's 34 points from the bench, and Williams dished a team-high four assists.  
 
Greene led FSU on the boards, turning in eight of Florida State's 33.
 
The Noles forced 16 turnovers, including nine steals, scoring 21 points. Gerton, Tatum Greene and Davis contributed two steals each, while Emma Risch, Williams, and Jasmine Shavers took away one each.
 
The Seminoles started the game scoring the first four points, however Georgia Tech answered with a 10-0 stretch to take the lead.  FSU added a 6-0 run late in the quarter, but Georgia Tech held the 22-16 lead after the first.
 
Bowles started the quarter off with a three, but the Yellow Jackets had an answer and pulled ahead by 10. Davis looked to gain momentum with a steal and a drive to the hoop, forcing Georgia Tech to call timeout with 4:52 left in the half, up 33-25. Davis and Bonner added layups, but FSU went to the locker room down 10, 39-29.
 
Greene was a defensive force in the first half, leading the Noles with seven rebounds, two steals and a pair of blocks.  Bowles led the team in scoring with seven points, while Williams and Davis chipped in six.  
 
The Seminoles looked for momentum out of the half, scoring the first four points of the quarter, but the Yellow Jackets answered with a quick six to extend the lead. Bowles answered with a three and a drive to the basket to cut the deficit to seven.
 
Georgia Tech would stretch the lead to 12, 52-40 with 3:45 left in the third.  Gerton provided a spark from the bench, sinking back-to-back threes and grabbing a steal to chip at the Yellow Jacket lead, 56-46. After Davis made a pair of free throws, Georgia Tech led 56-48 heading into the fourth.
 
Florida State looked for a push in the fourth, as Avery Treadwell worked for a pair of layups early. Gerton also made a drive to the basket, to pull within seven, 61-54. However, Georgia Tech kept pushing the paint, going 6-of-7 in the frame at the free throw line, keeping distance.  Georgia Tech pulled away and won the game, 72-60.
