Seminoles Play Host To SMU on Senior Day on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

TALLAHASSEE -- Florida State, which has won nine of its last 12 ACC games since winning at Miami (65-63) on January 20, play host to SMU on Senior Day at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The Seminoles enter Saturday's game with a 16-14 overall record and a 9-8 mark in ACC play. Entering its game at Miami on January 20, the Seminoles were 7-11 overall and 0-5 in ACC play. In the last 46 days and 14 games, the Seminoles are 9-5 overall and 9-5 in ACC play.

Florida State enters Saturday's game against SMU having defeated nine ACC teams and looking to gain a victory over SMU to win its 10th ACC victory in head coach Luke Loucks' first season as the Seminoles' head coach. Florida State enters play on Saturday with the opportunity to finish in seventh place in the ACC standings and earn a first-round bye in the annual ACC Tournament which begins on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the Charlotte Coliseum. The official bracket for the championship will be determined on Saturday night with the conclusion of the regular season for each of the league's 18 teams.

The game between the Seminoles and the Mustangs will be televised beginning at 2:00 p.m. on the ACC Network with Hall of Famer Wes Durham and Georgia Tech All-American Dennis Scott on the call.

Florida State has won 14 of its last 17 Senior Day games including its 76-69 victory over SMU on Senior Day in 2025. As the Seminoles honor six seniors  -- Lajae Jones, Kobe MaGee, Robert McCray V, Shah Muhammad, Alex Steen, and Chauncey Wiggins -- they will look to build on their senior day success. Seminole head coach Luke Loucks was 3-1 in senior day games with victories as a freshman, a sophomore, and a senior. Loucks totaled 10 points and four assists in 23 minutes played in his Senior Day as the Seminoles defeated Clemson, 80-72, on March 4, 2012.

Florida State was picked to finish 15th by the attending media at the ACC's annual Operation Basketball in October, and if things fall correctly for the Seminoles on the final day of the regular season, they have an great opportunity to finish in seventh place in the league standings. The Seminoles finished in a tie for ninth in the ACC standings last season, and most recently finished as the regular season ACC champions in 2019-20 (with a 16-4 record) and in second place in the league standings during the 2020-21 season with an 11-4 conference mark.

Senior Robert McCray V made two free throws with just over five seconds remaining in Wednesday's night's game against Pitt to secure the Seminole's victory on the road at the Peterson Events Center. McCray V made two of two free throw shots to put Florida State up by a 75-71 margin and allow the Seminoles to take their fifth consecutive ACC road win back to Tallahassee. McCray's second free throw during that sequence gave him 1,600 career points for his 108-game career. McCray V enters Saturday's game against SMU ranked 16th in the ACC in scoring with his 15.6 points per game scoring average in his first season at Florida State.

McCray V, who is ranked fourth in the ACC in total assists and assists per game, enters Saturday's game against SMU  ranked ninth in Florida State history for total assists in a single season.

Florida State enters Saturday's against SMU with a school-record 303 made 3-point field goals and a school-record 947 3-point field goals attempted. The Seminoles made 11 3-point field goals in their victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday. It marked the eight time this season that Florida State made in double-figure 3-point shots in an ACC game.

Freshman Thomas Bassong is averaging a double-double of 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in the last two games.

Bassong, who has started each of the Seminoles' last 14 games, is playing the best basketball of his season now that the month of March has rolled around. In the first 17 ACC games of his career, he is averaging 6.7 points and 4.1 rebounds and 22.7 minutes played per game and has scored in double figures in three ACC games (14 against NC State and at Georgia Tech and 11 at Syracuse) as compared to two double-figure scoring games (at Dayton and against Mississippi Valley State) during the Seminoles non-conference schedule.

Bassong earned his first career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds at Georgia Tech (February 28).
