Egbuna Signs With Florida State

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State head coach Brooke Wyckoff announced the signing of Joy Egbuna on Sunday. A forward, Egbuna will join the Seminoles as a sophomore transfer from Alabama.
 
"We're excited to welcome Joy to Florida State as an important addition to next year's roster," Wyckoff said. "Joy brings physicality and a competitive edge with a mindset that aligns with what we're building here. Her experience playing at an elite level in high school and college along with her hunger to grow and make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor will be important to our culture and standards of excellence. We are thrilled Joy has chosen to be a Seminole and look forward to what's ahead!" 
 
During her freshman season at Alabama, Egbuna appeared in 17 games, including three during the Crimson Tide's run in the 2026 SEC Tournament as the 11th-seed.

Egbuna saw extended minutes in the quarterfinal against third-seeded Texas, where she grabbed six rebounds, which was a season best.  She turned in a career high of five points against Vanderbilt in the regular season, helping Alabama to a 24-11 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
A native of Arlington ,Texas, Egbuna was recognized as an ESPNW four-star recruit, ranked No. 97 by ESPNW, and was listed in the BTN Scouting 150 as No. 85. She also held the No. 55 spot in the All Stars Girls Report and was ranked No. 8 in Texas by the Premier Basketball Report.
 
Egbuna was named First Team All-District 11-6A and received All-Region honors from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches for the 2023-2024 season. At Lake Ridge High School, she set a school record for blocks in a single season with 44 and averaged 10.4 points and 13.6 rebounds per game.
 
In addition to her high school accolades, Egbuna played on the P24 Circuit for Team Moriah Jefferson 17U, under the guidance of coach Tez Dumars. She played her senior season of high school at Faith Family Academy, coached by Andrea Robinson. Egbuna also participated in the USA Basketball Games during the 2020-2021 period.
 
Egbuna joins Chamiah Francis, Asia Lee, Kennedy Loux, Missy Odom, and Morgan Stewart in the signing class.
