TALLAHASSEE – Florida State women's track and field student-athlete Rylee Blade was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Rookie of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Blade is the second Seminole in program history to collect the honor for the outdoor season, alongside teammate Alexa Schwartz who received the award last week.

Great accomplishment for Rylee, said FSU head coach Matt Kane. She has stayed loyal to her training and was good to see her have a breakthrough meet. Looking forward to the rest of the outdoor season.

Blade went back to her roots in California to compete in the Stanford Invitational on April 3. The Corona, California, native competed in section two of the women's 5,000-meters after placing fourth as the top freshman and ACC runner with a time of 15:39.71. Blade's time currently stands as the fourth-fastest time in program history and ranks third in the conference this season.

We are incredibly proud of Rylee being named the ACC Freshman of the Week, said assistant coach Cody Halsey. This is a huge but well earned and deserved honor given the strength of our conference. Rylee has big goals ahead, so it was really rewarding to see her race with poise and confidence finishing in a collegiate personal best! We are very excited for what's to come for Rylee.

Florida State returns home this weekend for the Dick Roberts Seminole Invite at the Mike Long Track from April 10-11.
