Weaver, Whaley Named Academic All-District

TALLAHASSEE -Â Florida State men's golf juniors Tyler Weaver and Jack Whaley were named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's At-Large teams on Tuesday.

Chosen by the College Sports Communicators, Weaver, and Whaley are among the nation's top student-athletes to be recognized for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The At-Large category recognizes athletes from golf, wrestling, hockey, lacrosse, water polo, volleyball, fencing, skiing, rifle and gymnastics. Â Weaver, who is majoring in sport management and Whaley, who is majoring in interdisciplinary social science, will be considered for the All-America ballot, which will be announced on July 8.

Weaver was one of 15 student-athletes named to the 2026 All-ACC team, earning the recognition for the third time in his career, joining Frederik Kjettrup, Brooks Koepka, Hank Lebioda, John Pak, and Matt Savage as three-time honorees. Weaver captured two All-America honors. He was named First Team by Golfweek and Second Team by the GCAA after earning PING All-Southeast Region honors for the second time in his career. Weaver was also a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist.

Weaver finished the 2025-26 season with a scoring average of 69.58, marking the fifth-best average in program history. He joins Luke Clanton, Pak, and Daniel Berger as the only Noles to turn in single season averages under 70 strokes.

In eight starts, Weaver finished in the top 25 in every outing, producing four top 10 showings. Weaver won the 2026 Valspar Collegiate, carding rounds of 65, 66 and 67, finish at 15-under, becoming the sixth Seminole in history to break the 200-stroke barrier in a 54-hole tournament at 198. He sits tied for third in FSU history alongside Frederik Kjettrup (2023 Watersound Invitational) and Clanton (2025 Lewis Chitengwa Memorial). With the win, Weaver earned exemption into the 2027 Valspar Championship, which will be held at the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Golf Resort.Â

Weaver was the runner-up at the Seminole Intercollegiate, earning ACC co-Golfer of the Month honors. He also took fourth at the Watersound Invitational to begin the spring. He rallied to tie for 10th place in stroke play at the ACC Championship before moving on to finish 2-0 in match play, defeating Aidan Tran of Georgia Tech 2&1 in the quarterfinal and Jay Leng of Stanford 4&3 in the semifinal.

Weaver finished the season ranked 11th in the Scoreboard rankings and is currently seventh in the World Golf Amateur Rankings. Â

Beginning in April, Whaley closed the season securing four top 15 finishes, including three consecutive top 10 showings. Whaley finished tied for sixth at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial at 8-under, 205, before starting the postseason at the ACC Championship with an eighth-place finish at 4-under, 212. Whaley was also 1-1 in match play, securing his victory over Albert Hansson from Georgia Tech in the quarterfinal, 3&1.
With Weaver out of the lineup for the Noles, Whaley stepped up and led the team at the NCAA Columbus Regional, finishing tied for seventh at 4-over. In his NCAA Championship debut, Whaley finished tied for 14th place at 6-under, 282 after carding rounds of 72, 68, 73 and 69 at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
Whaley jumped over 100 spots in the World Amateur Golf Rankings this season and he sits at No. 109.
