Seminoles Announce Men's Basketball Staff Changes

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State men's basketball head coach Luke Loucks announced several changes to his coaching staff, promoting Justin Lindner to assistant coach and hiring Sam Logwood as director of video and scouting. The Seminoles also announced that Chris Kent, who spent the 2025-26 season with the program, has been named head coach of the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League.

Lindner enters his new role after serving as assistant director of player development during Loucks' first season at Florida State.

"One of our goals as a staff is to develop coaches the same way we develop players, and Justin has earned this opportunity," said Loucks. "He's made a tremendous impact through player development, and our players have benefited from the time and energy he invests in them every day.

"As a player at Florida State, Justin understood the importance of being a great teammate and doing whatever it takes to win – he's living that out now as a coach. He's someone who embraces every challenge, and I know he'll continue to elevate our program in this expanded role while remaining a key part of our players' on-court development."

Lindner returned to his alma mater after spending the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at Mercyhurst during the Lakers' first season transitioning from Division II to Division I. Prior to Mercyhurst, he served as an assistant coach at SoCal Academy in Los Angeles.

"He's been a tremendous asset to our program from day one," said Loucks. "He came to us with assistant coaching experience at the lower level, and he's shown every day that he's ready for this opportunity at Florida State. His work ethic, basketball IQ and willingness to do whatever the team needs have made a huge impact on our players and staff.

"One of the things that makes Justin unique is that he can still get out there and compete with our guys every day. That gives him an instant level of credibility and allows him to build strong relationships with our players. He's earned the respect of everyone in our program, and I have complete confidence that he'll thrive in this role. We're fortunate to have him on our staff, and I'm excited to watch him continue to grow as a coach."

Logwood joins the Seminoles as director of video and scouting following three seasons as a video coordinator with the Sacramento Kings. He also spent one season as a graduate assistant at Oregon.

Logwood most recently served on the Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball staff after joining the Roadrunners in 2025.

"Sam is a tremendous addition to our staff, and we're really excited to have him in Tallahassee," said Loucks. "Sam is someone I had the opportunity to work with in Sacramento, and I know firsthand the impact he can have on a program. He has high level experience as a graduate assistant in college, a coach in college, and valuable video, scouting, and player development experience at the NBA level."

Kent departs Florida State after one season with the Seminoles to become the head coach of the Austin Spurs, which are the minor league affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs organization. In his first season with the program, Kent helped Florida State to an 18-15 record and a 10-8 mark in ACC play. The Seminoles gained momentum throughout the 2025-26 season, winning seven of their final eight games and 10 of their final 12 contests. Florida State also set a school record with five consecutive ACC road victories before narrowly falling 80-79 to No. 1-ranked Duke in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

"I'm incredibly proud of Chris and couldn't be happier for him and his family," said Loucks. "From the first day we worked together, I always believed he had what it takes to be a head coach. His attention to detail is second to none, and that's one of the many reasons I knew this opportunity would come.

"Chris brought a clear, organized approach to everything we did last season, and he built systems that helped our players and staff be at their best every day. I can't wait to see him continue to build that foundation with his own program. He brings a level of professionalism that makes everyone around him better, and the San Antonio Spurs organization are getting an outstanding coach and an even better person. I'm excited to watch Chris continue to grow in this next chapter, and I have no doubt this is just the beginning of many great things to come."

The staff changes come as Loucks prepares for his second season leading the Seminoles. Florida State opens its 2026-27 non-conference schedule Nov. 2 against Florida A&M in Tampa, Fla., as part of the Orion180 Tip-Off Classic.
