No. 30 Men’s Tennis Earns 4-1 Win at Boston College

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The No. 30 Florida State men’s tennis team (13-7, 3-5) earned an away victory 4-1 at Boston College (4-12, 0-8) on Saturday evening.

“I thought our guys did a great job bouncing back after losing the doubles point,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “It was very tight in doubles.”

Despite Alex Bulte and Youcef Rihane winning on court three quickly, the Noles were unable to earn the doubles point after losing on courts one and two. No. 77 Maks Silagy and Josh Karpenschif dropped a close matchup on court one, 7-5.

FSU won the first set on all six courts in singles en route to beating the Eagles.

“I thought it was good that we got all six first sets,” Hultquist shared. “We took control of the match from there.”

Andreja Petrovic claimed the first point for the Noles on court two after surrendering only three games in two sets. Richard Thongoana finished quickly after on court three where he only gave up two games in his win.

“We got a couple quick wins from Andy and from Richard that put us in position to clinch it and finish it off,” Hultquist added.

Freshmen Rihane and John Bernard secured the win with victories on courts five and six, respectively. Rihane earned the clinching point for his 12th singles win of the spring.

Florida State returns home Friday at 5:30 p.m. to face Virginia followed by the final home match of the season on Sunday at 12 p.m. against Virginia Tech.
