Tallahassee, FL – Florida State freshman Loris Pourroy has been named to the All-ACC Men’s Tennis Second Team by a vote of the league coaches. In his first full season at FSU, the Gap, France native led the team in overall wins, singles wins, doubles wins and doubles wins in ACC play. Pourroy was also tied for the team lead in ACC singles wins and wins versus nationally-ranked opponents.
“Loris continues to improve and this year he has shown he is one of the best in the ACC,” said FSU Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist. “He works hard on his game and enjoys the challenge of playing against the best.”
Pourroy came into the 2020-21 season not expected to have to shoulder the weight of playing on line one in his first full season in one of the nation’s toughest conferences. Due to injuries, Pourroy ended up playing most of the 2021 spring on line one and facing the top players in the ACC. Despite the challenge, the freshman still posted a 14-9 record in singles and a 113 national ranking. In doubles, he joined with Marcus Walters and jumped into the top 50 nationally while posting a 7-5 conference record and two wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Pourroy is the first Seminole since Guy Iradukunda in 2017 to place on the All-ACC first or second team as a freshman.
