TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Lauren Ryan and Adriaan Wildschutt will be representing their own countries and the Florida State track and field program at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, on Mar. 18-20. Ryan and Wildschutt will each run the 3000m run. Wildschutt will run his preliminary race at 8:30 a.m. on Friday while Ryan will run her 3000m race at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The men’s 3000m run final will be at 7:05 a.m. on Sunday.

Both Ryan and Wildschutt had successful weekends at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend in Birmingham, Ala. Both athletes finished fourth in their respective events to earn First Team All-America honors. Ryan ran a 9:01.37 in the 3000m run in Birmingham in her first NCAA Indoor Championship race. Ryan earned her spot on the Australian National Team thanks to a 8:47.88 time at the David Hemery Valentine invite, which was the fourth-fastest time in NCAA history, and it also broke the ACC and FSU record.

“Being selected to represent Australia on my first senior team is an honor. It’s always a honor putting the green and gold on. It’s ultimately what we work towards as elite athletes, and it’s a testament to the team around me, from coaches, to my strength and conditioning team and to treatment. It’s a team effort. Competing at the World Indoor Track and Field Championships will be a great experience leading into the outdoor season for both the NCAA and national season ahead. I’m excited to see where I’m at in a classy field and to see what I can achieve for everyone back home in Australia,” Ryan said.

Wildschutt solidified his spot for the South African National Team at the ACC Indoor Championships with a 7:52.38 time in the 3000m run. Wildschutt finished his indoor season strong with a fourth-place finish in the 5000m run at the NCAA Indoor Championships. He ran a 13:21.23 in the 5000m race to earn his second straight First Team All-American honor in the indoor season.

“It’s definitely a great privilege for me to represent my country. I’m a proud South African, and representing them means the world to me. I know my family is already proud and putting our family name out there is immense for me,” Wildschutt said.
