Marching Chiefs

Made of 400+ Florida State students, the Marching Chiefs provide the official soundtrack for football games at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Osceola & Renegade

Arguably the greatest spectacle in college football unfolds moments before kickoff at Doak Campbell Stadium when Osceola charges down the field aboard Renegade, a beautiful Appaloosa, and plants a flaming spear at midfield prior to each home game. This tradition is a tribute to the great Seminole Tribe of Florida.

The tradition was born on Sept. 16, 1978, when a student, portraying the famous Seminole warrior Osceola, led the football team from the tunnel riding a horse as the Seminoles headed into battle against Oklahoma State.

Parking Lots

Numerous campus parking areas will be closed for reserved Seminole Booster parking on home football game days. All vehicles (including motorcycles and scooters) MUST be removed from these lots by 11:59 PM the night before gameday.

Parking lots open at 10 am on Saturday, April 20.

Purchase reserved parking passes in Lots 4,5, 6, and 9 here. Lots 9 will be sold on gameday in a first come, first serve basis. All remaining lots will be free.

Security Screening

Florida State Athletics is introducing the use of walk-through metal detection at Doak Campbell Stadium. The metal detectors will not require fans to remove anything from their pockets or empty their clear bags. Fans should continue moving forward beyond the security screening area unless asked to stop by security personnel, which will cause minimal disruptions. As fans and staff adjust to the new process, we ask that you plan accordingly and enter the stadium early.

The clear bag policy is still in effect.

Seminole Heritage

Florida State Athletics is honoring the Seminole Tribe of Florida in athletic competition through the Seminole Heritage initiative. Games that feature the color turquoise will now be known as "Seminole Heritage" games in tribute to Florida State University's long-standing relationship with the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The color turquoise represents harmony, friendship and fellowship in the culture of many Native Americans.

Learn more about the initiative here.

Sod Cemetery

Florida State’s sod cemetery holds chunks of the field from great Seminole road wins. Spanning over six decades, “sod games” and the Florida State University Sod Cemetery have been a rich part of the Seminoles college football history, commemorating many of the greatest victories.

Program alumni are interviewed on their time on the team and integral wins on Sod Talk.

Smoking

Smoking (including vaping and e-cigarettes) is prohibiting inside of Doak Campbell Stadium. There is one smoking area outside of Gate L that fans will be able to come and go throughout the game.

Sportshop

Purchase gear at the tent on Langford Green or in the Sportshop located in the south endzone.

Ticket Scanning Process

To simplify and increase the efficiency of entering the stadium, FSU is introducing ticket pedestals in addition to staff members scanning tickets.

Fans are encouraged to download their digital tickets in advance to avoid any Wi-Fi issues at the stadium.

Unconquered Statue

Dedicated on October 10, 2003, Fritz White’s bronze statue “Unconquered” was designed to capture the indomitable spirit of the Seminole people and those who have adopted that spirit as a symbol for their university.

The massive structure, including its granite-covered pedestal base, stands approximately 31 feet in the air and depicts a spear-brandishing Seminole astride a rearing horse. At sunset the night before each home game, the spear is ignited and burns until sunrise on the next morning after the game.

War Chant

FSU's "war chant" was first heard in its current form in 1984, although its roots extend back some two decades. In the 1960s, members of FSU's Marching Chiefs band chanted the melody of a popular cheer, "Massacre," during football games. In a sense, "Massacre" was the long version of the current war chant.

During a football game against Auburn in 1984, the Marching Chiefs began to perform the cheer. Some students behind the band joined in and continued the "war chant" portion after the band had ceased.

The chant continued largely among the student body during the 1985 season, and by the 1986 season was a stadium-wide activity. The Marching Chiefs refined the chant, adding its own special brand of musical accompaniment — and the result still is seen and heard today.

Water Fountain

Water fountains are located on the lower level and the concourse level adjacent to most stadium restrooms. Fans can also bring empty water bottles to fill at the fountains.

Will Call

Will Call tickets can be picked up at the Dick Howser ticket window starting at 12 pm on Saturday, April 20.
