Justin Lindner is in his first season as a member of Luke Loucks’ first staff at Florida State as an assistant director of player development.
Before coming back to FSU, He served as an assistant coach at Mercyhurst University during the 2024-25 season. This was Mercyhurst’s 1st season transitioning from division 2 to division 1. Lindner helped the Lakers finish 3rd in the Northeast conference with a 9-7 conference record & a 15-16 overall record. While at Mercyhurst, Lindner was involved in recruiting, scouting, player development, alumni relations, & assisted with video.
Before coaching at Mercyhurst University, Lindner worked at the SoCal Academy located in Los Angeles, CA where he worked as an assistant coach. In this role, he ran individual and team-oriented drills/ workouts, helped scout opponents, ran practices, & assisted with all day-to-day team related activities.
Lindner played at Florida State and was an important member of the Seminoles program during his tenure. He played six seasons as a Seminole after becoming a member of Leonard Hamilton’s team from the 2016-17 seasons through the 2021-22 season. Following a redshirt season in 2016-17, he played in 40 games including a career-high 11 as a redshirt senior in 2022.
Lindner was a member of a school-record tying four NCAA Tournament teams and the Seminoles’ 2020 ACC Championship team during his career at Florida State. The Seminoles advanced to the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament, to the Elite Eight of the 2018 NCAA Tournament and to the Sweet 16 of the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Tournaments. Lindner earned playing time in the 2018 NCAA Tournament (against Missouri and Gonzaga), the 2019 NCAA Tournament (against Murray State) and the 2021 NCAA Tournament (against Michigan) as he became just the seventh player in school history to play on three NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 teams (Travis Light, Justin Lindner, Will Miles, Anthony Polite, Harrison Prieto, M.J. Walker, and Wyatt Wilkes). After serving as a walk on for his first 5 years, Lindner was on full scholarship for the final year of his career.
Lindner helped Florida State to 139 victories during his career as a Seminole…the Seminoles won a school-record 29 games during the 2018-19 season….was a part of one of the best Seminole teams in history in the 2019-20 season where the Seminoles finished the season 26-5, 1st in the ACC & ranked 4th nationally before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.
Lindner earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as a Seminole with him completing a coaching internship at Florida State before fully moving to the sidelines. He completed his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics & his master’s degree in Sports Management. He also completed a certificate in Athletic Coaching.
