Damon Edmond, a Florida State graduate, is in his third season as the athletic trainer for the Seminole men’s basketball team.

He re-joined the Florida State Athletics Department in August of 2021 after working at both Clemson (2018-20) and at Charleston Southern (2021).  He was a student assistant at Florida State as an undergraduate (2015-18) and worked with numerous sports, including basketball during its 2018 run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

While a student at Florida State, he worked with the Seminoles’ women’s soccer, football, and women’s tennis teams, in addition to the men’s basketball program.  He also served as a student athletic trainer at Godby High School in Tallahassee.

Following his graduation from Florida State, he was a graduate assistant at Clemson, where he worked with the Tiger men’s tennis team for two years.

During his time at Clemson, he managed complete medical coverage for 11 student-athletes from nine different countries. He coordinated tennis performance meetings with coaches, strength and conditioning, and the sports nutrition staff while directing treatment and rehabilitation protocols for all student-athletes. In addition to working with men’s tennis, he provided medical coverage for all of Clemson’s Olympic sports athletes.

Edmond was the athletic trainer for the men’s basketball and men’s golf teams at Charleston Southern during the exceedingly challenging 2020-21 season.  During his time at CSU, Edmond managed the complete medical coverage of both teams.  He created and implemented numerous rehabilitation protocols geared toward bringing student-athletes back from surgical procedures to promote performance enhancement.  Edmond also managed the inventory for the sports medicine department while coordinating all COVID testing, contract tracing and return to participation protocols.

Edmond graduated from Florida State in May of 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training. He graduated with his Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences from Clemson in 2020.

He and his wife, Eliza, were married in 2023.  The couple has two cats, Sasha and Mocha.
