PERFORMANCE PROFILE

Returns for his senior season as one of the nation’s finest sprinters following eye-opening 2018 campaign with Noles…a four-time, first-team All-American between the 2018 indoor and outdoor seasons…tied the FSU 60-meter record (6.52) in his debut at Iowa…also ranks No. 5 in the indoor 200 (20.60), No. 5 in the 100 (9.98) and No. 7 in outdoor 200 (20.28)…is the highest returning scorer from the NCAA Outdoor Championships…selected ACC Outdoor Track Performer of the Year and was ACC Championship Track MVP.

 

2018

Indoor: Set the standard for things to come when he tied Dentarius Locke’s FSU 60-meter record in his first final at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational, setting the Iowa facility record with the fastest collegiate time of the regular season…competed in only four meets…won the ACC Indoor 200-meter title at Clemson in personal-best 20.60 following a runner-up finish in the 60 for the team championship Noles…rebounded from a false start in the 60-meter prelims at the NCAA Indoor Championships by placing eighth in the finals of the 200 for he first Division I All-American honor. Outdoor: Turned in a monster performance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships…anchored the 4×100 relay to a fifth-place finish following a prelims season-best 39.00 (No. 8 in FSU history)…finished third in the 100-meter final (10.19) and backed that up with a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash (20.29)…qualified out of the NCAA East Preliminary with the nation’s fastest 100 (9.98), backed up by a  SB 20.28 in the 200…was the driving forced behind the Noles’ ACC Outdoor title, winning the 100 (10.13) and 200 (19.98), which a slight helping wind (2.3)…had a wind-aided 200m (20.05/3.1) at the Tom Jones Memorial…ran windy 10.04 for third at the Home Depot Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

BEFORE FSU:

Jamaica native who was raised in South Florida…earned 11 All-American honors between the indoor and outdoor seasons at the NJCAA level, competing for South Plains (Texas) in 2015 and Butler (Kan.) in 2017…arrived in Tallahassee with personal-bests of 6.65 (60m), 10.13 (100m) and 20.62 (200)…won 2017 NJCAA 100-meter title to go along with silvers in 200 and 4×100…claimed silver at 2017 NJCAA Indoor 60 and third in both the 200 and 4×400…member of South Plains’ 2015 NJCAA 4×100 national title-winning team and also seventh in 100…finished third in 200 at 2015 NJCAA Indoor nationals and fourth in the 60.

PERSONAL:

Starred at Piper High where he was the 2014 Florida 4A runner-up in the 100 and 200…boasted high school personal-bests of 10.31 and 21.23…was named student-athlete of the year as a senior at Piper…moved to the United States from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica in 2007 at age 12…the son of Tashau Edwards…majoring in sport management…born June 7, 1995.
