Bill Houston joined Florida State Global Partnerships in August of 2024, bringing more than 30 years of revenue generation experience in sports.
Prior to his arrival in Tallahassee, Houston served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Revenue Generation & Strategic Initiatives at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. In his three years at UT, he oversaw all revenue generation for the athletics department.
From 2016-2021, Houston served as UCF’s Associate Athletics Director for Corporate Partnerships. During his five-year tenure in Orlando, Houston established UCF’s strategic direction for both athletic- and university-specific partnerships, concentrating on naming rights and category exclusivities. Houston’s innovative approach helped the Knights experience a 385 percent increase in athletics revenue growth, and he also negotiated multiple naming rights agreements.
From 2013-16, Houston was the Senior Manager of Business Development and Strategic Sports Partnerships for Guidewell Connect’s Florida Blue subsidiary, developing new-revenue strategies and managing marketing initiatives.
Houston also boasts vast experience in professional sports, having worked in sales and corporate partnerships with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars from 1999-2013, the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers from 1997-99 and the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs from 1992-97.
During his time with the Jaguars, he generated more than $10 million in new business sales, secured multiple new, six-figure, multi-year partnerships and sustained a partner renewal rate exceeding 90 percent. He ultimately managed nearly half of the organization’s corporate partnership portfolio, with an impressive client list whose agreements averaged $9.8 million.
A native of New Paltz, New York, Houston graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in communications in 1989.
