Brandon Smith, an All-American golfer at Texas A&M in 2018, is in his first season as an assistant coach for the nationally prominent Florida State men’s and women’s golf programs.
Smith will assist both the Seminoles men’s and women’s programs.
Smith enjoyed an outstanding career from 2017-21 in College Station, Texas, leading the Aggies to pair of fifth place finishes at the NCAA Championships in 2018 and 2019.
As a sophomore in 2018, he earned All-America honorable mention and All-Central Region honors. Smith recorded six individual top 10 finishes and was the runner-up at the Bryan Regional Championship. He earned his first career win at the 2019 Pioneer Creek Collegiate with a 10 under par, 206 behind scores of 71-68-67. He shot a career-low 63 in the second round of the 2021 Legends Classic – a score that established the school record during his playing career – and which now ranks as the third lowest in program history.
Smith was named PING All-America honorable mention and captured All-Central Region honors by the Golf Coaches Association of America as a sophomore. He was a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and was named to the SEC Community Service team in 2018 and 2019.
Following his collegiate career, Smith spent two years playing on the All Pro Tour before becoming a caddie on the Korn Ferry Tour.
A native of Frisco, Texas, Smith graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in sport management in 2020. His father Bruce qualified for the 2004 and 2010 PGA Championship as a golf pro and was the 2001 NTPGA Player of the Year.
