Chris Poole is in his first year as Florida State's assistant athletics director for compliance and administration in 2026 following a coaching career unmatched among his peers.

Poole moved into athletics administration after a distinguished career as one of the best volleyball coaches in America. He led FSU to 15 NCAA Tournament appearances in 18 seasons as the Seminoles' head coach, and tallied 405 wins and four ACC championships. Poole led FSU to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament five times and became the first ACC team to reach the National Semifinal in 2011. The four-time ACC Coach of the Year led the Seminoles to 12 20-win seasons and 36 victories over ranked opponents.

In his current role, Poole is responsible for the administration of camps and clinics, ensuring university and NCAA requirements are met, while also monitoring Bylaw 17, which sets expectations on the declaration of practice and playing seasons, time management plan and CARA log reporting.

When his coaching career ended, Poole was the seventh-winningest coach in Division I history with 955 career wins in 39 seasons as a head coach. He coached 25 different individuals to 43 total All-America honors during his time at Florida State and Arkansas. Prior to starting the Arkansas volleyball program in 1994 and spending 14 years as the head coach of the Razorbacks, Poole was the head coach at Arkansas State for six seasons and spent four years at Arkansas Tech, beginning as a graduate assistant in 1983, serving as an assistant coach in 1984, co-head coach in 1985 and head coach in 1986.

Poole earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Arkanas Tech in 1983 and completed his master’s degree from Arkansas Tech in 1989. Poole and his wife, Toni, a former Arkansas State track and field standout, have two children, son Joshua and daughter Taylor.
