Christa Salerno was promoted to public relations director in the Florida State athletics department in the summer of 2024. She is in her 14th year at Florida State in 2025-26 and serves as the primary contact for women's basketball and men's golf along with additional responsibilities with football.
She is responsible for football game day operations, including credentials, and also oversees the media operations for most postseason events on FSU's campus, including the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Salerno began her time at Florida State as a sports information assistant in 2011 before being promoted to assistant sports information director in 2015.
In her first role at Florida State, she was the contact for swimming and diving as well as women's tennis. She also has spent time as the contact for volleyball, beach volleyball and cross country. Prior to FSU, Salerno served as an intern for three years in the University of Pittsburgh media relations department, assisting with football, volleyball, swimming and diving and basketball duties.
In 2010, Salerno assisted the Detroit Lions media relations staff as an intern for training camp that season.
A Pittsburgh native, Salerno earned her bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Toledo in 2008. She was a four-year member of the Rockets' swimming and diving team and served as team captain during her senior year, leading Toledo to a runner-up finish at the MAC Championships.
In 2016, Salerno was named to the Fox Chapel Area Schools Sports Hall of Fame for her athletic achievements in swimming and soccer. In 2023, Salerno selected to the inaugural Sports Hall of Fame Class for the Borough of Sharpsburg. Additionally, she currently holds a brown belt in BANG Muay Thai kickboxing and a blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
