Dane Smith has been with Florida State Athletics in a full-time capacity since 2004. Smith primarily worked in equipment and was appointed Director of Equipment Operations. In September 2024, Smith was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Brand Management and Trademark Licensing.Â
Smith began his time with FSU as a student manager for the baseball team. After graduation, he took over the role of equipment and clubhouse manager. During his more than 20 years at Florida State, he has served multiple roles for the department. His tasks have included oversight of the ordering, inventory and distributing gear while also managing equipment staff for multiple sports.
Smith earned his bachelor's degree in finance with a minor in economics from Florida State in 2004.
