Michael ("Mike") Brady has served as Florida State's faculty athletics representative since 2021. He is the assistant provost for Athletic Academic Affairs and the Dr. Persis E. Rockwood Professor of Marketing in the Rockwood School of Marketing at Florida State University's College of Business.
Mike is also an affiliated faculty member or honorary professor at six universities around the world. He has published articles in many top scholarly journals, and his research articles have been cited over 35,000 times to date. Brady's work has also been covered in the popular press, such as MSNBC, U.S. News, the Chicago Tribune, CNN and Tampa Bay Times. Mike has won numerous awards for research, teaching, and service, including the Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions to the Service Discipline Award and the William R. Jones award. He is the current past-chair of the American Marketing Association’s Board of Directors and an area editor for Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Associate Editor of Journal of Marketing, and immediate past Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Service Research.
Originally from Jacksonville, Brady lettered from 1987-1990 as a left-handed pitcher for college baseball coaching legend Mike Martin. He appeared in 51 games and recorded an 11-3 record with seven saves, a 2.85 ERA and 144 strikeouts over 135.2 innings pitched. After his playing career at Florida State, Brady was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers and spent four years in the professional ranks.
Brady earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from Florida State in 1991, an MBA from Jacksonville University in 1994, and his doctorate degree in marketing from Florida State in 1997. He and his wife, MJ, have two children, Jack and Mary Kate. Brady's father, Jim Brady, was the former president of Jacksonville University and was a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers.
