Former NFL and FSU defensive back Gerard Ross returned to Florida State as the Seminoles’ assistant director of high school relations in July of 2022 and was promoted to director of high school relations in 2025.

Ross came back to Tallahassee after serving as the associate head coach at Trinity Christian Academy in his hometown of Jacksonville from 2008-21. There, he helped the Conquerors win seven state championships and coached nearly 70 players who signed Division I scholarships. He served as the defensive coordinator from 2008-17 and then moved over to offensive coordinator for his last four seasons.

He also oversaw the development of Pro Impact 7-on-7 team, which helped more than 300 players earn college football scholarships. In 2015, Ross was selected to coach in the Under Armour All-America Game and in 2017 he was selected to coach the US Army All-American Bowl.

At Florida State, Ross appeared in 22 games with six starts while helping FSU win 44 games in his five seasons. He was then signed by Seattle for the 2006 NFL season and helped the Seahawks reach the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs.

Ross earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Florida State in 2005. He has a daughter, Amaya, who plays softball at FSU.
