Juwan Dowels enters his first season as a defensive graduate assistant at Florida State in 2026.

Dowels comes from IMG Academy in Bradenton, where he served as defensive backs coach. He previously served in the South Florida prep ranks as the defensive coordinator at Monsignor Pace High School in Miami and was defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator at American Heritage.

Dowels was the 5A Defensive Player of the Year at American Heritage before playing college football at Syracuse and Western Michigan. After a redshirt season in 2014, Dowels was a three-year starter with the Orange before transferring to WMU for his senior season. In 37 career games, Dowels had 102 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups and four interceptions.
