Kyle Washington enters his second season with the Florida State men's basketball program after spending year one as the Seminoles’ director of video and scouting under head coach Luke Loucks.
Washington joined the Florida State staff after serving as an assistant coach at Iona during the 2024-25 season, where he was also the director of player development under head coach Tobin Anderson. Prior to his time at Iona, Washington served on Drew Valentine’s staff at Loyola University Chicago during the 2023 season, where he utilized his player development skills and scouting ability.
Washington began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Cincinnati from 2021-22, assisting with player development and video operations. He returned to Cincinnati following a professional playing career that included stops with Yalova in Turkey, the Windy City Bulls and Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G League, and Boca Juniors in Argentina.
A native of Cincinnati, Washington played collegiate basketball at NC State and Cincinnati. He began his career with the Wolfpack, reaching the NCAA Tournament in both seasons and advancing to the Sweet 16 as a sophomore. After transferring to Cincinnati, Washington helped lead the Bearcats to a 61-11 overall record during his two seasons, including a school-record 31 victories during the 2017-18 season. Cincinnati captured both the American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships that season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed in the South Region.
Washington finished his collegiate career with 1,275 points in 142 games and earned All-Conference honors and NABC All-District recognition during the 2016-17 season. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team following his appearance in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off.
During his senior season in 2017-18, Washington served as team captain alongside Gary Clark and helped guide Cincinnati to one of the most successful seasons in program history. He was named to the conference championship All-Tournament Team and later competed in the 2018 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, earning All-Selection Team recognition among the top seniors in college basketball.
Washington earned his degree in interdisciplinary studies from Cincinnati in 2018.
