Sarah Thomas rejoined the Florida State athletics department in 2022 and is in her fourth year as the executive assistant to Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford.
Thomas, who previously served multiple roles at Florida State, came back to the athletics department after spending two years as the assistant accreditation manager for the Tallahassee Police Department. Her tasks included creating and monitoring compliance with accreditation standards as well as communicating internally and externally on compliance protocols and standards. Prior to her time with TPD, Thomas was a corporate health specialist for St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Louisiana.
Thomas spent four years as the sport sales manager for Visit Sarasota County, helping implement sports tourism strategy for Sarasota County by working with event organizers for site visits and event needs. She also managed the county's grant program and developed proposals and presentations for potential sporting events to be held in Sarasota County. Her efforts resulted in Sarasota County hosting the 2017 USA Volleyball Junior Beach Volleyball National Championships, where she served as tournament coordinator.
Before her time with Visit Sarasota County, Thomas spent three years at Florida State in different roles. She began in 2013 as a graduate admission officer in the university's Office of Admissions. Her responsibilities included coordinating with graduate program coordinators and managing all graduate school admissions events. Thomas then moved into athletics, spending one year as the department's administrative assistant to the CEO and two more years in the business office. She spent one year as the coordinator of business operations, processing contracts and serving as a primary liaison with outside vendors, and one year as an accounting specialist where her duties included compiling budgets, managing the department's courtesy car program and game contracts for all 20 sports.
Thomas earned her bachelor's degree in hospitality management from Florida State in 2011 and completed her master's degree in sport management from FSU in 2012.
