Sean Toner

Sean Toner is in his first year as the Associate Athletics Director for Business Administration after joining FSU Athletics in April of 2026. He leads the athletics business office, overseeing all financial operations and partnering with university leadership to ensure strong fiscal stewardship, effective budgeting and long-term departmental sustainability.
Before joining the athletics department, Toner served as the Assistant Director of Budget and Financial Services for the Florida State University Foundation, where he oversaw general accounting for both the Foundation and the Florida State University Alumni Association. He managed personnel budgeting for University Advancement, supported the Alumni Association’s annual budget process, and led the preparation of its annual financial statements, audit coordination and tax filings.
Toner began his career in public accounting and spent five years at Purvis, Gray and Company advancing from staff auditor to audit supervisor while leading engagements for municipalities, counties, school boards, electric cooperatives, and nonprofit organizations.
A Tallahassee native, Toner earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from Florida State University and has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since January 2019. He is currently completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA), which he is on track to receive in December. He and his wife, Emily, are the proud parents of two children, Tinley and Trey, and enjoy attending FSU sporting events together as a family.
