TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2017-18 All-ACC Academic Swimming and Diving Teams on Thursday. Florida State landed a total of 10 student-athletes on both the men’s and women’s squads.
Seniors Natalie Pierce, Tayla Lovemore and Blaire Mulka along with sophomores Ayla Bonniwell and Molly Carlson were named to the women’s team. Pierce, Carlson and Bonniwell all earned their second career nods, while Lovemore and Mulka captured their first.
Senior Tyler Roberge was selected to his second career All-ACC Academic Team, while sophomores Nate Samson, Griffin Alaniz and Cameron Thatcher along with freshman Joshua Davidson earned their first honor.
“We hold our student-athletes to a high standard here at Florida State,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “I am very proud of these kids for achieving excellence in and out of the pool this season.”
“Our divers have always put in the work in the classroom,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “They understand they’re students first and they put forth a tremendous effort to be successful in the classroom in addition to diving.”
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
