TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State sprinter Amir Willis was named the ACC Men’s Co-Track Performer of the Week the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Willis shared the award with Zach Jaeger from Georgia Tech. This is the first time Willis has earned the award in his career.
“I’m really excited for Amir,” Head Coach Bob Braman said. “He had a great showing at the ACC Indoor Championships, and he’s picked up right where he left off for the outdoor season. He’s evolving into a leader in our sprints program.”
Willis started his outdoor season off with a bang with an impressive showing at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami, Fla. Willis ran a personal best in the 100m dash with a time of 10.25, which is the fastest time in the ACC and the seventh-fastest time in the NCAA. Willis is coming off a strong indoor season where he earned first team All-ACC honors in the 200m dash and second team All-ACC honors in the 60m dash.
Willis and the Noles will be in action this Thursday and Friday at the FSU Relays at the Mike Long Track in Tallahassee.
