Wilson On Outland, Nagurski Watch Lists

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State defensive tackle Marvin Wilson is included on watch lists for the Outland Trophy and Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which were announced Tuesday.

Wilson, who also was on the Bednarik Award Watch List released last week, recorded 42 tackles, including 4.5 for loss with 3.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and one forced fumble last season on his way to honorable mention All-ACC honors and the team’s Bobby Bowden Leadership Award. He was the only defensive tackle in the ACC to record at least seven tackles in consecutive games after ending the season with a career-best seven tackles against No. 22 Boston College and No. 13 Florida. Those totals bettered his previous best of six set at No. 17 Miami. The Houston native has received numerous accolades this preseason, including preseason All-America honors from Athlon and Phil Steele and Preseason All-ACC Team recognition from the conference’s media contingent, and is considered among the nation’s elite interior defensive linemen.

The Outland Trophy honors the top interior lineman in college football and is selected by Football Writers Association of America members. Semifinalists for the 2019 Outland Trophy will be announced Nov. 20, and three finalists will be announced Nov. 25. The winner will be announced Dec. 12 during the Home Depot College Football Awards show live on ESPN.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is presented by the Charlotte Touchdown Club to the national defensive player of the year. Five finalists will be announced Nov. 20, and the 25th winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be revealed Dec. 9 during the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Florida State opens its 2019 season against Boise State in Jacksonville on Aug. 31. Tickets for the 7 p.m. kickoff can be purchased here. Ticket options for the six games inside Doak Campbell Stadium, including a Nov. 2 matchup with rival Miami, are available here.
