Women’s Basketball Adds Jazmine Massengill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Women’s Basketball program has added its second talented transfer this offseason as incoming graduate guard Jazmine Massengill has been added to the Seminole roster for the 2022-23 season.

Massengill was ranked as one of the country’s best transfers because of her immense experience playing for reigning SEC champion Kentucky. This past year as a senior, the Chattanooga, Tenn., native averaged 33.6 minutes along with 7.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

The former Tennessee and Kentucky player factors immediately into Florida State’s plans for the upcoming season, emerging as one of the country’s most experienced distributors.

“Jazmine brings championship-level skill and experience to our roster next season,” FSU Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. “She is a scoring threat at multiple levels, an excellent facilitator and brings size and physicality on both ends of the floor.

“Those skills combined with her leadership and winning pedigree are an excellent addition to our team. We are thrilled that Jazmine has chosen to join our Seminole Family!”

Through her time with the Lady Volunteers (2018-20) and Wildcats (2020-22), Massengill has played in 112 career games. The Athletic ranked her in the Top 10 (eighth) among all players in the transfer portal, while ESPN ranked her in the Top 15.

This past season, Massengill recorded nine games scoring in double figures, including three consecutive performances vs. South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. She had 17 games where she added five or more assists, including 10 vs. Auburn on Feb. 27.

Massengill started all 30 games for Kentucky in 2021-22, playing 34 minutes in the SEC Championship game against National Champion South Carolina where the Wildcats won the conference title, 64-62, on a last-second 3-point field goal. She had seven points, six assists and three rebounds in the win.

Florida State is building a slew of talented guards for the 2022-23 season, with Massengill joining recent Bucknell transfer Taylor O’Brien as well as point guards O’Mariah Gordon and Sara Bejedi.
