Women’s Tennis Ends Fall Season By Dominating The Seminole All-Conference Showdown

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team wrapped up the fall season with three doubles and two singles championships at the 2019 Seminole All-Conference Showdown. The Noles went 9-6 in singles and 9-0 in doubles across the weekend.

“Five flight championships in our final weekend of competition, that is a pretty solid effort from our crew,” said head coach Jennifer Hyde. “It was good to see us defend our homecourt so well and play strong tennis this weekend.”

Junior Petra Hule earned the Seminole’s first title by dominating Raquel Amaro of East Tennessee State 6-2, 6-0.  Earning the second singles title, senior Nandini Das capped off her last fall season as a Seminole with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory over Clemson’s Mackenzy Middlebrooks.

The Garnet and Gold continued their performance throughout the consolation brackets as junior Emmanuelle Salas defeated Eleni Louka of Clemson 6-4, 6-2. Senior Andrea Garcia joined Das in ending her last fall season with a win as she took down UNF’s Sean Lodzki 6-4, 6-2.  Freshman Mira Stegmann was the only Nole to fall in her final match, losing a tough super tie break 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 to Dalia Ahmed of McNeese State.

The Seminole All-Conference Showdown was the final tournament of the fall for the Seminoles. They will begin their spring season January 17th in Hawaii.

“We finished off a fantastic fall with a lot of highs and a lot of growth,” said Hyde. “Everything right now is shifting our focus to prepare for the spring and whats ahead in 2020. We are going to get right back to work this week and continue to improve heading into the Christmas break. We are all very excited for what’s ahead in 2020 and in the spring as we continue to improve as a team and use all the experiences from the fall to set us up for the spring and everything that’s ahead.”
