TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Head Coach Brooke Niles and the Florida State Beach Volleyball team have announced their schedule for the upcoming 2021 season that is set to begin at the end of February.
“We are so excited to finally play someone other than ourselves,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “It has been almost a year since our season got cut short and we are ready to get out there and compete once again. We have been training really hard and realize there may be some hiccups along the way this season but we are ready for whatever is thrown our way.”
Florida State is set to host two tournaments in Tallahassee and a third in Gulf Shores, Ala. The Seminoles will compete in five weekends on the road, including tournaments at Tulane, LSU, FAU, South Carolina, USC and UCLA. The Noles will also play in Gulf Shores in the March to May tournament hosted by UAB.
Florida State enters the 2021 season having finished the 2020 season with a 12-1 record and ranked No. 3 in the country from a season that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. FSU returns 83 percent of its wins from a season ago and added seven new student-athletes including two transfers.
FSU opens the season at home as they welcome Georgia State, Tampa, Southern Miss, Loyola Marymount and Cal Poly to Tallahassee on February 27-28.
The following weekend the Seminoles head west to take on Louisiana Monroe and Tulane on Friday, March 5 before arriving in Baton Rouge, La. for the Tiger Beach Challenge (March 6-7) hosted by LSU. Florida State will take on Houston Baptist, LSU, Georgia State and FAU that weekend.
Florida State then heads to Gulf Shores, Ala. the next weekend to compete in the March to May tournament hosted by UAB. The Seminoles will play three matches on March 13 against TCU, Grand Canyon and LSU.
On March 19, FSU heads south to Boca Raton, Fla. to compete in the FAU Beach Bash in Paradise on March 19-20. The Noles will take on Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast on March 19 and UAB and FAU on March 20.
The next weekend Florida State goes to Columbia, S.C. to play in the Gamecock Grand-Slam hosted but the University of South Carolina on March 27-28. FSU is scheduled to play Georgia State and Stetson on March 27 and TCU and South Carolina on March 2.
Florida State then goes out to California on April 3-4 for the two matches against USC on April 3 and two against UCLA on April 4.
After coming back from the west coast the Seminoles host their second tournament of the season on April 9-10. FSU welcomes Coastal Carolina, FAU, FIU, Stetson and UNF to Tallahassee for the two-day tournament.
The Noles finish the regular season with their second trip to Gulf Shores on April 17-18. Florida State will be hosting the tournament in which they welcome TCU, Tulane, Southern Miss. and LSU to Gulf Shores, Ala.
The following week, Florida State travels to Huntsville, Alabama for the CCSA Tournament (April 23-25).
The NCAA Championship tournament will feature the nation’s top eight teams in Gulf Shores on May 7-9.
