Beach Volleyball Has Three Pairs Earn AVCA Top Flight Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is pleased to reveal the third annual class of AVCA Top Flight award winners. Introduced in 2018, this awards program is designed to recognize excellence in collegiate beach volleyball from all over the country and across all flights.

The Seminole pairings of Keara Rutz/Torrey Van Winden, Maddie Anderson/Sara Putt and Jenna Johnson/Kate Privett all earned recognition from the AVCA on Tuesday.

In order for a pair to be eligible for the award, two athletes must compete in at least 15 matches together and at a specific flight number. Should that pair win at least 75% of their matches – regardless of the overall result of the dual – those athletes will achieve “Top Flight” status.

Rutz and Van Winden are 29-6 together this season with a 4-4 record on court one and a 25-2 record on court two. Anderson and Putt are 23-3 together with a 1-0 record on court two and a 22-3 record on court three. Johnson and Privett are 25-5 together with a 1-0 record on court four and a 24-5 record on court five.
