Berkely Named MAC Hermann Award Semifinalist

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior Malia Berkely has been named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist as announced by the United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Berkely has started in all 23 games for the Seminoles this season as their starting center back. She has helped anchor a backline that has recorded 10 shutouts and has only allowed 23 goals this season. She has not only been a force on the defensive end but also has made her presence known on the offensive side of the ball as well. Berkely has recorded two goals and four assists on the season and is a threat to bring the ball up every time she touches it.
The Liberty Township, Ohio native was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list and was rated as the 14th best player in the country in the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Top-100, she was also a second-team member of the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Best XI. Berkley was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and was a member of the All-ACC First Team. She was also rated as the 9th best player in the country in the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top-100
Berkely is one of 15 semifinalists for the award. The finalists are announced on Friday, December 6.
Berkely and the rest of the Seminoles continue their quest to a second straight national championship this Friday at 2 pm when they take on UCLA at the Seminole Soccer Complex with a trip to the 2019 College Cup on the line.
