Seminole Legacy Golf Club

  • Formerly known as Don Veller Seminole Golf Course, the Club recently completed a comprehensive renovation of its golf facilities under the direction of the Nicklaus Design company, with the redesign being completed in March 2020.
  • The dynamic course was recognized as one of 'Florida's Top 30 Golf Courses' according to GOLF.com in March 2023. The 2022-23 ranking came by GOLF's expert raters including both public and private courses across the Sunshine State. It placed 15th on the prestigious list.
  • The scope of the renovation included a complete redesign of the golf course, with only one hole remaining from the original routing. GOLF’s fleet of 100-plus expert panelists took note of the renovation stating, “The renovation of the Club has effectively repositioned Seminole Legacy as one of the top collegiate golf clubs in the U.S.”
  • The golf course was originally designed by Bill Amick and opened to the public in 1962. For years, the Club has served as the home of Florida State University’s men’s and women’s golf teams. The renovation of the Club has effectively repositioned Seminole Legacy as one of the top collegiate golf clubs in the U.S.
  • All tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, greens and cart paths are new. Additionally, the old Don Veller course sat on about 210 acres, which included two driving ranges, a small short game area for the golf teams and a 7,147-yard par-73 golf course. The new golf course is 7,800 yards and a par 72, sitting on 174 acres, including the two ranges and a new 12-hole par three course for the golf teams.
  • Additional amenities include The Burr Family Renegade Grill™, a state-of-the-art clubhouse, a fully stocked Golf Pro Shop and on-site PGA-certified staff who can assist players of all ages and abilities.

The Success of Florida State Golf

  • The Seminole Legacy Golf Club re-opened in March 2020, and although its first year was impacted by COVID-19, the next three years have proven how much of a factor it is in providing FSU Golf's student-athletes a true test to prepare for the best tournaments.
  • From 2021-23, Florida State Women's Golf has reached the NCAA Match Play Quarterfinals twice and produced seven All-America honors.
  • From 2021-23, Florida State Men's Golf has also reached NCAA Match Play twice, culminating with a trip to the semifinals in 2023.
  • The two programs have each made the last three NCAA Championship Finals, making FSU one of just three schools to have both its men's and women's teams make the Final 30 since 2021.

The Dave Middleton Golf Center

The Dave Middleton Golf Center houses the SGC clubhouse and is also the location of the team’s private facilities.  Florida State golfers enjoy a comfortable team room, on course workout facility and state of the art training center.  The team room / facility is utilized for team meetings as a study area between classes and practices and as a lounge when the team is not on the course.  It was opened in 2001.
