TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In addition to succeeding in college, one of the main goals of the Florida State soccer program is to develop each student-athlete to reach their potential and prepare them for a professional career. Four former Seminoles recently took that next step as they signed professional contracts with clubs throughout the world.
Natalia Kuikka became a member of Kopparbergs / Göteborg FC, which is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. She rejoins with former Seminole and fellow Finnish national team member, Emma Koivisto, on the club.
Megan Connolly signed with Brighton and Hove Albion in January, and the club competes in the FA WSL 1, the top tier of women’s soccer in England.
Berglind Thorvaldsdottir had been competing for Iceland club Breidablik, but now will be on loan with PSV Vrouwen for the rest of the season. PSV is a Dutch club from Eindhoven that has placed in the top five of its division in each of the last four years.
Alexa Orrante will play for the Santa Clarita Blue Heat FC of the United Women’s Soccer league this summer after completing her collegiate eligibility in 2018 for the Seminoles.
Throughout 2018-19, the Seminoles will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of women’s intercollegiate athletics at Florida State and there are many events and reunions planned for all women’s sports. Head to www.seminoles.com/50th/ for more information that will be updated throughout the year.
