FSU’s five-game winning streak has come against No. 23 Florida, a three-game sweep of No. 9 Louisville and Wednesday’s 6-5 win over No. 25 Georgia Southern in 11 innings. FSU trailed most of the game to the Eagles, but the Noles scored two runs in the eighth inning and tied the game on Jordan Carrion’s two-run double in the bottom of the ninth.

Tyler Martin ended the game with a bases-loaded walk. Over the past two games, Carrion is hitting 7-for-8 with five runs, five RBI and three walks drawn.

Clemson enters the weekend having won four of five over the past week. They won both midweek games against Georgia and East Tennessee State after taking two-of-three from Wake Forest last weekend.

Of Note:

  • Parker Messick is the nation’s leader in strikeouts (94) and strikeouts per nine innings pitched (15.29). He is a three-time ACC Pitcher of the Week and is the reigning NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week after recording 14 strikeouts and allowing no runs or walks last week vs. Louisville, who entered the game with the nation’s top scoring offense.
  • Carson Montgomery has faced just three batters over the past two games and earned a save and a win. Against Louisville, he entered with two runners on base and FSU clinging to a 10-9 lead. He struck out both batters faced for his first career save. Against Georgia Southern, he entered in the 11th tied 5-5 and struck out the only batter faced. FSU won in the bottom of that inning.
  • Montgomery will make his first weekend start of the year Sunday. He has started seven midweek games and is 4-1 with a 3.79 ERA on the year.
  • As a staff, FSU leads the country with 460 strikeouts on the season. The Noles are second in the country with 12.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
