Herston Named to Team USA Coaching Staff for 2021 World University Games

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State track and field assistant coach Keith Herston was named Team USA Horizontal Jumps assistant coach for the 2021 World University Games in Chengdu, China.

“I’m thrilled to be selected as an assistant coach for the US at the World University Games,” said Herston. “It is always an honor to have the opportunity to be a part of Team USA. I look forward to getting there and helping the athletes bring home medals for our country.”

Herston, who has made significant contributions as the Noles’ jumps, pole vault, and combined events coach for both the men and women, is in his fourth season with the Seminoles.

During the 19-2020 season, contributors at the 2020 ACC Indoor Championships. The men scored 55 of the Noles’ 140 points on the way to the title, including a 34-point haul in the long jump. It was the third consecutive indoor title for the men.

In his three years coaching at Florida State, Herston has coached his student-athletes to 11 All-American honors, five individual ACC titles, 43 All-ACC honors, including 25 first-team selections and continues to bring out the best in elite athletes.

The World University Games are organized by the International University Sports Federation and are held every other year. The event, which features 18 sports, is open to men and women between the ages of 17 and 24 who are currently or have been in the past year a student at a college or university.

The 31st Summer World University Games begins with the opening ceremony on Aug. 18 and will carry on through the Aug. 29, 2021.
