Kjettrup Tied for Eighth at the Cabo Collegiate Invitational

CABO, Mexico – Junior Frederik Kjettrup of the ninth-ranked Florida State Men’s Golf team delivered a 2-under 69 in the second round of the Cabo Collegiate Invitational at Twin Dolphin’s Club on Monday. The Denmark native is tied for eighth in the field at 1-under overall (72-69), improving by three strokes from Sunday.

Kjettrup recorded his fourth round in the 60s this spring season in five rounds played, one of 14 golfers to shoot in the 60s in a second round that was a bit more forgiving than the first. The Seminoles improved by two spots up to sixth place through two rounds of play, shooting 1-over as a team on Monday. FSU is 11-over for the tournament.

Repeating his first-round performance, Kjettrup started the front nine with a 33. He improved on the course’s back nine with a 36, stringing together five birdies for the round. He is tied for sixth in the tournament shooting even par on par 3 holes.

Leading the Cabo Collegiate Invitational are Wells Williams and Matthew Riedel, both from Vanderbilt. The Commodores also have a grip on the team leaderboard at 15-under, 13 strokes ahead of second-place Ole Miss. Texas Tech (1-under) is the only other team with an aggregate score of under par.

Redshirt junior Cole Anderson delivered an eagle for the second straight round, which happened on the par-5, 571-yard 13th hole. Anderson shot an even-par 71 on Monday and is tied for 18th at 2-over.

Sophomore Michael Mays also had a steady day by shooting even par. He is tied for 25th overall at 3-over.

Brett Roberts is tied at 49th at 7-over while Luke Clanton is tied at 62nd at 12-over.

One more shot-gun start occurs on Tuesday as all golfers will tee off at 10 a.m. ET.

Kjettrup Earns ACC Golfer of the Month
Frederik Kjettrup was named the ACC Golfer of the Month for February, announced by the conference on Monday.

Kjettrup shot the lowest three-round score vs. par in program history at 18-under to win the Watersound Invitational at Shark’s Tooth Bay Golf Course in Panama City, Florida. Kjettrup won his second career tournament at the Watersound Invitational in a difficult field with eight of the 11 teams ranked.

The Tournament was played at the same site as last year’s ACC Men’s Golf Championship. All three of Kjettrup’s rounds were under par, and he was 8-under in par 4 scoring and 8-under in par 5 scoring.
