Latson Named All-American By Associated Press and USBWA

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –  Florida State Women’s Basketball freshman guard Ta’Niya Latson has earned honorable mention All-America honors by both the Associated Press and the United States Basketball Writers Association, announced on Wednesday.

The Miami, Fla., native recently was named the National Freshman of the Year by The Athletic, scoring in double figures in 29 of her 31 games played this season. Latson owns an ACC-best 18 20-point games this season, including 14 straight at one point during the year.

The USBWA recognized Latson three times this season as its national freshman of the week, while the ACC named her conference rookie of the week a record-setting 10 times. Latson is averaging a conference-best 21.3 points along with 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor.

The decorated freshman received ACC Rookie of the Year and was also an All-ACC First Team performer.

The No. 7-seeded Seminoles face No. 10 seed Georgia in the NCAA First Round in Iowa City on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
