Mendoza had two of FSU’s six hits in Friday’s opener before finishing the weekend 6-for-6 with six runs scored and five RBI in the final two games. He walked three times and added a sacrifice fly, reaching base at a .786 clip in the series while slugging 1.000. His batting average jumped from .289 to .321 in the three games.
The Minneola, Fla., native set a career high with four runs scored in game two of the series and tied a season high with three hits in both of the final two games. Mendoza has started at third base in all 108 games over the past two seasons.
Mendoza is the fourth Nole to earn weekly league honors this season, joining Robby Martin (Feb. 25), Conor Grady (Apr. 15) and Drew Parrish (Apr. 29). FSU is the only team in the ACC to have four different players earn Player or Pitcher of the Week honors in 2019.
