TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Volleyball outside hitter Morgan Chacon earned her first career ACC Player of the Week honor, announced on Tuesday by the conference office.
The redshirt sophomore from Crown Point, Ind., led the Seminoles to another 2-0 week as No. 25 FSU continues to build on its nine-match win streak. Chacon was the team leader last week in points accounted for (37.0) and kills (35), putting together two tremendous performances in wins over No. 14 Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.
Against the nationally-ranked Fighting Irish, Chacon set a career high with 50 attacks but hit a solid .300 percentage as she connected on 18 kills. She added 10 digs in the match for her 13th career double-double.
Chacon continued her efforts in a four-set win over Virginia Tech on Sunday. She delivered 17 kills in 39 swings and hit .359 while adding nine digs. In the two matches played she also received perfectly in 32 attempts.
She has accounted for a team-leading 162 points this year, including fall play. Chacon leads the Seminoles with 140 total kills this season.
The 25th-ranked Seminoles return to action on Friday, March 19, at Virginia at 5 p.m.
