Hall of Fame Class: 1989 (Women's Track and Field)

Randy Givens rewrote the record books in women’s track and field over her career from 1981-84. She was a star on a Florida State women’s track team that never finished worse than third at the National Championships over her career. By her junior year, she had established herself as an international class sprinter and leading Florida State to second place in the 1983 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Given’s topped that accomplishment in 1984 when she won NCAA titles in the 400 meters and mile relay. Her efforts led FSU to its first National Championship in women’s track and field. She participated in the 1984 Olympics for the United States and won the prestigious Broderick Award, given to the nation’s top female amateur athlete.
