TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Through the first round of the competitive Valspar Intercollegiate, Florida State Men’s golfers Rowin Caron (-1) and Corey Carlson (E) have helped FSU stay in contention with solid showings.

Playing at the Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla., Caron finished his first round on a strong note by registering birdies on four of his last six holes played. He capped his good round with a birdie on the par-3, 210-yard second hole. The Netherlands native was 3-over par through his first 12 holes before going on his run.

Carlson continues to impress with an even-par 71. His highlight to the round was an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole that was 575 yards. The Green Cove Springs, Fla., native had six holes where he shot under par, providing him with the second-lowest score in the first round for FSU.

Senior Hank Lebioda, coming off his first outright win at the Seminole Intercollegiate, was steady once again with a 1-over 72. Lebioda began his round well with a birdie on the opening par-4 hole, and added back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13.

Junior Josh Lee added a 3-over 74, while redshirt junior Cristobal Del Solar posted a four-over 75.

The Seminoles will finish their second round on Monday and will wrap up the Valspar Intercollegiate on Tuesday with 18 more holes. The prestigious tournament includes all 15 teams involved in the Golfstat Top 50.
