Noles In The Super Bowl: Freeman Shines As Falcons Fall Short

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Former Florida State running back Devonta Freeman was one of the standouts of Super Bowl LI, but Freeman’s Falcons fell short in a 34-28, overtime defeat to the New England Patriots.
Freeman, who played at FSU from 2011-13, scored the game’s first touchdown and finished with 11 carries for 75 yards and a touchdown.
He also had two of the game’s longest plays – a 37-yard run on Atlanta’s first drive and a 39-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
Former FSU All-American guard Tre’ Jackson is in his second year on the Patriots’ roster and now has a Super Bowl championship to go with the 2013 BCS National Championship he won at Florida State. Jackson, however, missed the entire season due to a knee injury.

Falcons: RB Devonta Freeman started and carried 11 times for 75 yards and a touchdown. He also added two catches for 46 yards.
Patriots: OG Tre’ Jackson (knee) is on the physically unable to perform list.
