TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 19/10 Florida State Cross Country teams will travel to South Bend, Indiana to compete in the 2021 ACC Championships on Friday, Oct. 29. The women’s 6k is set for 10:10 a.m. with the men’s 5-mile race scheduled for 11 a.m.

The ACC Network will provide live coverage of the meet starting at 10 a.m. following the live broadcast of Packer and Durham on site at 7 a.m.  Live timing will also be available.

“We’re real excited to compete at the ACC Championships,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “It’ll be a big challenge for us as they’re expecting cold, rain and muddy conditions. We need to show that we can compete well in tough conditions, not just on a well-manicured course like the Apalachee Regional Park.”

Friday will be the second time the Noles race at Burke Golf Course this season. The men took fourth at the Joe Piane Invitational on Oct. 1 while the women claimed seventh.

FSU will look to capture more accolades at the 2021 ACC Championships. The men have 44 All-Time All-ACC selections, and the women’s All-Time total is 50. The women’s program has had at least one finisher in the top-10 in every ACC meet since 2006. There have been six Seminole ACC Champions in school history, four on the women’s team and two for the men.

“Our incentives are that we can nail down some final quality wins before Regionals and we finish off this part of the season with a high ACC finish. We were ranked low by the ACC coaches in the preseason poll, we feel like we must finish the job with great races on Friday. It’s the ACC Championship, anything can happen.”

Both squads enter the meet at their highest USTFCCCA rankings of the season regionally and nationally.

The men are ranked first in the South Region for the second week in a row and jumped one spot in the national rankings to No. 19. The women climbed to No. 10 nationally and are No.2 in the South Region.

The Last Time Out

The Seminoles recorded top-10 finishes in both the men’s 8k and women’s 6k races at the FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals meet on Oct. 15. Both squads faced tough competition with 31 teams that were either ranked or received votes in the USTFCCCA polls featured at Apalachee Regional Park.

Adriaan Wildschutt led the men to an eighth-place finish overall with his second-place finish (22:49.4) just behind defending national champion, Connor Mantz, from BYU. Wildschutt’s time was a personal best and placed him third on the list for the fastest collegiate 8k time in Apalachee Regional Park history. For the fourth time this season, Wildschutt was named the ACC Men’s XC Performer of the Week which set the school record for most in a single season.

The women finished third overall behind two top-10 teams led by Lauren Ryan in third in the women’s 6k with a personal best time of 19:51.1. This performance by Ryan also secured a spot on the list of fastest collegiate 6k times in Apalachee Regional Park history at ninth overall.
