TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Third-year sophomore pitchers Parker Messick and Bryce Hubbart earned a pair of preseason All-America honors Monday. Messick, from Plant City, Florida, earned first-team recognition from D1Baseball and second-team from Baseball America, while Hubbart, from Windermere, Florida, joined Messick on the second team from Baseball America and third team from D1Baseball.
Messick led FSU with 126 strikeouts over 90.0 innings in 2021, compiling an 8-2 record and earning Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher and Freshman of the Year honors. He won his final eight decisions of the year and had 13 outings, including 11 straight, with at least 5.0 innings pitched and two or fewer earned runs allowed.
Hubbart finished 6-5 with a 3.80 earned run average in 2021, striking out 94 batters in 71.1 innings. Over the summer, Hubbart was named an all-star in the Cape Cod Baseball League while competing against the top collegiate talent in the country.
Messick spent his summer pitching for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
Messick and Hubbart are the only pitchers from the same school that earned preseason All-America honors. Earlier this offseason, Messick was named first-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game, also being named the Perfect Game Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
Hubbart was previously a third-team preseason All-American by Perfect Game and is the No. 28 rated 2022 draft prospect by D1Baseball.
