Volleyball Wins Third Straight Five-Setter; Defeats NC State at Home

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Another exhausting yet thrilling five-set match went in the favor of Florida State Volleyball on Sunday afternoon, defeating a talented NC State team, 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10), in front of a packed house on Parents' Weekend at Tully Gym.
Junior outside hitter Audrey Koenig continued her torrid stretch of play, recording 20 kills, a .576 hitting percentage and 15 digs in the win. It marked Koenig's fourth career 20-kill match and her third of the season, as well as her fifth consecutive double-double.
The Wolfpack (13-4, 3-3) had no consistent answers for Koenig, who fittingly ended the match in the fifth set on a cross-court kill. She had four kills in nine attempts in the decisive fifth set.
The Seminoles (12-6, 6-0) have won three consecutive five-set matches and are 3-1 this season in five-setters. FSU defeated Miami on the road on Wednesday in five as well as Duke at home last Sunday.
The win gives FSU its first 6-0 start to the ACC season since 2015 and is just the fourth time in program history it has started 6-0 in ACC play.
Junior middle blocker Khori Louis made a triumphant return with 11 kills in 19 swings with a .368 hitting percentage while adding four blocks. Junior middle blocker Kiari Robey added seven kills and six blocks.
Sophomore outside hitter Audrey Rothman delivered 12 kills and 11 digs, her fifth double-double of the season.
Making another start at libero, freshman Kyleene Filimaua had 16 digs while graduate setter Jelli Draskovic had another double-double with 33 assists and 12 digs. Draskovic's 33 assists marked a season high, while freshman Kenna Phelan added 23 assists and eight digs.
NC State attacker Ava Brizard had a strong match with 25 kills and a .415 hitting percentage to lead the Wolfpack.
The Seminoles hit the road for matches at 11th-ranked Georgia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a match at Clemson on Sunday at 1 p.m.
