Soccer Earns No. 1 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A historic season will continue as the reigning ACC Champions and undefeated Florida State women's soccer team was named the No. 1 overall seed for the 2023 NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. FSU has now made 24 consecutive NCAA Tournaments and is one of eight schools all-time at the Division I level to post a streak of 20 consecutive NCAA Tournament Appearances.  FSU will play Morehead State at the Seminole Soccer Complex at 5 p.m. on Friday on ESPN+. 

This is the sixth consecutive season and the 12th time overall that the Seminoles have earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. It is also the 19th straight season and 20th time overall that Florida State received a national seed in the NCAA Tournament.

When FSU is a No. 1 seed, the Seminoles hold a 50-9 record and have advanced to the College Cup in nine out of the 12 tournaments including National Championships in 2014, 2018 and 2021. 

Florida State sits at 76-19-5 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, good for a .785 winning percentage. It is the second-best postseason winning percentage of all time, trailing only North Carolina.

Overall, FSU has posted a 55-2-1 record in the NCAA Tournament at home, winning their last eight postseason games at the Seminole Soccer Complex. 

The Noles have outscored their opponents 164-23 at home in those 58 matches, including a cumulative score of 111-13 over the last 39 games, dating back to 2010.

FSU completed their first undefeated regular season in school history on their way to an ACC Regular Season and Tournament Championship. FSU is outscoring their opponents 54-13.

The 2023 DI women's soccer championship will take place from November 10-December 4. As a number one seed, the Seminoles will host until the College Cup which takes place in Cary, N.C. on Dec. 1-4.

General admission tickets will go on sale tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. The first 100 FSU students with their student ID will get in free. Fans can purchase tickets and seminoles.com/tickets.
