Tallahassee, Fla.- Â Former Florida State track and field women's team standout Hannah England was elected as the Vice President for United Kingdom Athletics on Tuesday following the UKA member elections that ran from Sept.25-Nov. 13.
As the governing body for athletics in the United Kingdom, the UKA was rebranded as British Athletics and is responsible for overseeing athletics events in the UK as well as athletes, their development, and their officials. It has four member organizations that include England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Welsh Athletics as well as Athletics Northern Ireland.
"This is an awesome honor for Hannah," FSU head coach Bob Braman said,  "She is brilliant at all she does. She's was one of the world's finest 1500m runners, she's one of the sport's top color commentators, and now she's in a position to advance Track and Field in the UK."Â
England served as the inaugural chair of the UKA Athletes Commission for six years prior to her appointment. Founded in 2017, the UKAAC consists of 12 current and former British international athletes. The commission was created to ensure athletes' voices are heard on various subjects.
As an athlete, England represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games after winning the silver medal at the 2011 IAAF World Championships in the 1500m.

While a member of the FSU cross country and track and field teams in 2007-2008, England was a two-time NCAA Champion, winning the mile in indoor before setting the national record in the 1500m in outdoor. Her 4:35.30 mile that was set back in 2008 ranks sixth in FSU history and her 4:06.19 in the 1500m is second. Despite Susan Kuijken eclipsing that mark in 2009 (4:05.86) for the program record, the third-best mark was set in 2022 by Maudie Skying (4:09.83).
In cross country, England helped the Noles win the ACC title in 2007, earning All-ACC honors. She was also among the scoring five that brought home a third-place finish at the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Championship, which at the time was the highest in school history.
