Jones entering North Carolina High School Hall of Fame

Tallahassee, Fla- Former Florida State track and field women's team standout Kim Jones will enter into the 2024 North Carolina High School track and field/cross country Hall Fame. The induction ceremony will take place on Feb 3rd.

Kim was selected as one of the ten inductees into the North Carolina High School Hall of Fame, after a historical career at Grimsley High School.

As an athlete at Grimsley, Jones won six outdoor individual state championships, which included the 100m hurdles in 1998 and 1999. She won two indoor titles in the 55m hurdles (1998) and long jump (1999). Her measurement in the long jump (18ft, 9.25 inches) was set as a meet record for all classification that stood firm until 2005.

In addition to her success around the track and sandpit, she was the NCHSAA 4A Women's Outdoor Track Championship MVP in 1998 and 1999. Jones was also named the North Carolina Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

"Kim Jones was an extraordinary talent for Florida State." FSU head coach Bob Braman said, "She was an All-American in two different events multiple times, which is truly rare." "It's no surprise that she's going in the North Carolina Track and Field Hall of Fame." "She was one of the best high schoolers in the Nation in both the Long Jump and High Hurdles."

During her time at Florida State University, she became a four-year letter winner and six-time ACC Champion at Florida State from 1999-2003. Additionally, she was also named a five-time All-American Honorable Mention. After becoming an Alumni of FSU, she competed professionally as a USA Track and Field athlete with a six-year sponsorship with Nike.
